Gaz de Bordeaux’s Dancing Facade by Light Cibles

Client: Gaz de Bordeaux
Architect: Moga & Agence Flint
Scope of Work: Facade Until Final Completion
Completion Date: 2005
Country: France

The head-quarters of the ” Gaz de Bordeaux ” company, a classic-style building dating from the beginning of the 20th century, was lit by Louis Clair in 1995. It has become one of the most eye-catching focal points in the city of Bordeaux. Louis’ son, Emmanuel Clair, took over for the new head-quarters, in the place Ravesies. He transformed the 12-metre high and 30-metre-wide façade into a gigantic video screen, with each window acting as a pixel. Since its inauguration, on October 28th 2005, the façade like double curtains has been animated by an image of the company’s logo, a flickering blue flame.
